Scientific facts of these images:

When we look at images that show natural elements such as flowers, or animals the brain reacts in a special way - on a sensory as well as on an emotional and cognitive level.

Amygdala & limbic system gets activated. Images of nature can evoke strong emotional responses – such as calm, joy, awe, or connection. The amygdala primarily processes emotional meaning – e.g. B. when depicting wild animals (danger) or cute animals (caring reaction).

Reward system (e.g. nucleus accumbens, orbitofrontal cortex) also gets activated. Studies show that many people experience positive feelings and even a form of "reward" when they see images of nature - similar to music or pleasant smells. This is related to the so-called biophilia hypothesis: the idea that people have an innate emotional connection to nature.

The Default Mode Network (DMN) gets activated.  A network that is active when we relax, dream or think about ourselves. When viewing calm images of nature, mental activity can slow down, which is perceived as relaxing and contemplative.

And the Temporal Lobe also gets activated. The medial temporal lobe is involved in recognizing animals. Species-rich, diverse depictions of animals in particular (e.g. in nature paintings) activate our system for categorization and recognition - something that is crucial in evolutionary terms
