Science & Art
Project

A science and art
project to bridge the gap between
the general public and the people in lab coats.
by
Anne Blaich & Prof. Alon Chen
Why do we combine science and art?
To improve science communications.
Science plays a key role in the life and development of society. It is providing us with new knowledge, technologies, and innovations. Science is our future.
But science is highly complex and hard to understand.
And who wants a future that he can not understand?
By converting science results into art, we make the audience experience science, fell it and understand it.
What science field is our artwork about?
Stress research
Stress full situations are everywhere - challenging jobs, traffic jams, climate changes, wars…
We all know that. But do we also know what stress is doing to our bodies, our brains?
And what about stress resilience? Do you know what makes you resilient to stress?
The art installation “Meet Stress – Meet You” offers the audience the possibility to find out how resilient to stress they are, what stress is doing to them and which impact stress coping strategies have on everybody’s live.
How does Meet Stress - Meet you works?
We adjusted the classical Dark-Light-Box experiment, which is used in science labs to analyze stress.

Who do I cooperate with for this project?
Prof. Alon Chen is a world leading scientist
and the President of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
His research focuses on the neurobiology of stress,
particularly the mechanisms by which the brain
regulates the response to stressful challenges
and how this response is linked
to psychiatric disorders.
